The primary season runs from Tuesday 3 March to Tuesday 15 September, and the general election is Tuesday 3 November. All 50 states are below, plus DC and the territories. 35 of them have a Senate seat on the ballot.

Primary and congressional runoff dates follow the Federal Voting Assistance Program’s 2026 primary calendar. Arizona’s primary moved from August 4 to July 21, 2026; this page uses the date in the Arizona Secretary of State’s 2026 election information.
The runoff column covers congressional runoffs, which 9 states hold when no candidate receives the share of the vote required by state law: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas. Other offices may have runoffs on additional dates, such as South Dakota’s July gubernatorial runoff.
“Held” means the listed primary date has passed; it does not mean results are certified or that every contest is settled. Dates and voting procedures can change. For current ballot, registration, and results information, use the official state election office directory.
